Tecola and his crocodile tears.
By Yilma Bekele
Crocodile tears (or superficial sympathy) are a false, insincere display of emotion such as a hypocrite crying fake tears of grief. That is what it felt like reading the gentleman’s article after watching the video ‘US Policy: Ethiopia A failed state.’ I was impressed by the powerful presentation.THE INSULTING PATERNALISM
ON AFRICA
HAMA TUMA
We will never justify but we can understand the smothering paternalism of the whites like the unmentionable actors and singers who have nominated themselves the voice of Africa.
British support for Ethiopia scheme withdrawn amid abuse allegations
The UK has ended its financial support for a controversial development project alleged to have helped the Ethiopian government fund a brutal resettlement programme. Hundreds of people have been forced from their land as a result of the scheme, while there have also been reports of torture, rape and beatings.
Ethiopia shall overcome.

In May of 2005 the noble idea of bringing change by peaceful means died a violent death in Ethiopia. The Tigrai People Front declared in no uncertain terms power sharing is not part of the equation. They have proved it three times since then. What part of that do we have a problem accepting?

Repression Stepped Up Linked to Coming May "Election"
General elections in Ethiopia have proved as fruitful as milking the bull. The noted 2005 election led to the defeat of the ruling regime but it decreed martial law, shot some 223 people dead, rigged the election, jailed thousands of opponents and carried on business as usual. Every election time that comes the repression intensifies. It is no different this time as the May general election approaches.
THE HIGH COST OF SATIRE AND DOUBLE STANDARDS
By Hama Tuma
Ethiopians have bitter sweet sayings and proverbs in line with their tradition of double entendres-- or wax and gold. What you hear is not the real message, what you see is not real at all. Go figure. Your mouth is your first enemy--shut it up. And so we say God does not quarrel with you without first preparing a big feast for you. Saydegis aytalam. Self delusion? Maybe, maybe not. May be a cloud has actually no silver lining.

We all should thank the Central Committee of Tigrai Peoples Liberation Front for making things a little clearer in our country. When election season is close the TPLF removes all pretenses and makes itself visible to the citizen of Ethiopia.THE GELDOF SWINDLE ( or THE BUSINESS OF AID )
By Hama Tuma
“Bod Geldof is a humanitarian activist. He is also an egotist, a celebrity economist, and quite wrong on Africa”. So wrote, politely, Mr.Greg Mills in the Guardian of March 8/2013. Bob Geldof is a also a businessman who has much profited from the aid business or from what some call the business of hunger.
Elections and helicopter-an Ethiopian drama.
By Yilma Bekele
I am thinking you must have read my last report on Ethiopian helicopters that made an unauthorized trip to Eritrea. I felt I left the story hanging out there and it is not just fair to my readers not having a closure on the subject. Some might say why dwell on that when there are so many things to discuss regarding our country. I listened and went about looking for important subjects I could write about to enrich our life and become a better informed Diaspora.
