REPRESSION IN KELAFO AGAINST THE HADIYAS
Hadiyas who have been living in the Somali region and who had been called Yerer Bare against their will raised the question of their need to have their own enclave and region and were subjected to repression as a consequence. This, despite the repeated attempt by elders to inform the local and central authorities on the plight of the Hadiyas.
The Battle of Trust and Mistrust

July 23, 2016
In order to suggest a viable solution to the current situation in Ethiopia, one has to sum up what has happened during the 33 years of overt association and during the 44 years of covert struggle. I am referring to the Army of EPRP also known as the EPRA. The 44 years of clandestine struggle refers to the political party of EPRP.

DENOUNCE THE BRUTAL TREATEMENT OF PRISONERS
Torture has been routine and systematic in Ethiopia and the inhumane treatment of prisoners has been the norm. Recently, Bekele Gerba and his fellow prisoners were brought before the regime's court wearing tee shirts, shorts and barefoot. They have revealed that their black suits were taken away from them at the notorious Kilinto prison where the guards have beaten and threatened them with worse for denouncing the crime of the regime against protesters in the Oromo areas.

A Race to the Bottom: Is Proud Ethiopia at Risk?
Aklog Birara (DR)
Part I
Regardless of our political, religious and ethnic differences and the formidable odds Ethiopia continues to face, most ordinary Ethiopians agree Ethiopia has a remarkable and long history as a free and independent multiethnic and multi-religious nation. Although we claim and believe in this fundamental principle, we are so afraid, timid, fractured and reluctant to express Ethiopia’s inviolability in the strongest terms possible that we are setting the country for Balkanization.

AFARS FACING UNPRECEDENTED CATASTROPHIC SITUATION
Currently, the Afar people in Ethiopia are facing disastrous, appalling and unprecedented dreadful famine catastrophe. The famine was not only caused by lack of rain, drought, climate change and effect of El Niño weather conditions as they claim but, it was a result of TPLF/EPRDF corruption, failure of strategies and policies, bad governance, human rights violations, unlawful land grabbing, forcible removal and eviction of Afar People from their traditional grazing land.
A Wake-up Call: Degradation of Ethiopian Lives
Aklog Birara (DR)
I join 101 million Ethiopians at home and abroad in expressing utter dismay and disbelief, sorrow and anger at the wanton and brazen violation of our ancestral land's sovereignty and borders; and the massacre of innocent people and children in Gambella. Whoever the power behind and whoever the perpetrators are, this is the first time in the annals of Ethiopia's modern history—post fascism—that any group would do the unthinkable of attacking 200 villages simultaneously, kidnaping children and snatching huge amounts of livestock from Ethiopia.

The Perils of Ethnic Federalism - Part I: The Dangers of Ethnic Politics
By Worku Aberra (PhD)
The recent student uprising in Oromia has brought into sharp focus the unsustainability of ethnic federalism in Ethiopia. The student unrest was sparked by the government’s decision to expand the city of Addis Ababa into the surrounding areas, but the real cause of the unrest lies in ethnic politics that has created ethnic federalism. Over the last 25 years, the regime has practised ethnic politics, stifling democratic rights, infringing upon civil liberties, and virtually eliminating the political space for the opposition. The results are ominous. Ethnic politics, if the experience of other countries is any lesson, engenders instability, turmoil, civil wars, and genocide.
AFRICA'S TT VIRUS

Remember when they said Africa gave the world HIV, the Nile Virus, the Tsetse fly, dengue and Ebola?
